Worship with the Lectionary: Trees of Life

Jeremiah 17.5-10; Psalm 1; 1 Corinthians 15.12-20; Luke 6.17-26

Psalm 1 compares the righteous to trees planted by streams of water, soaking in the knowledge of the unconditional love of the Father. The wicked, by contrast, are empty of love. They delight in making others feel the sharp pain of their lack, and they do not even know where to go to be refilled.

Let no one be in that way of wickedness. It is misery. May our church, our community be righteous, like trees by water, growing through the night and in the light of day.
